Wondrous photos, wondrous yacht, wondrous price…

I was so pleased and proud that our Long Island Yachts 33 Runabout was nominated for the Newport Boat Show award for “Best New Yacht of the Year.”

For a small European builder, presenting at their very first US show, to get his sort of respect and attention is a remarkable accomplishment. Kudos to our team.

Launched by this nomination, our whole Newport Show experience was tremendous fun, and a great success:

We had the right boat, the right location, the right price ($333,000!), and most of all the right owner! Without Skip’s generous assistance, none of this would have been possible. Not to mention his exemplary performance as captain of our detailing team:

Our delivery up from Huntington NY to Newport threw a variety of conditions at us. The first two hours were on the rough side, with wind against current for three-footers (until the tide turned). As you will see here, Long Island Yachts’ “Built for the North Sea, and now for your seas” concept proved itself wonderfully well:

As much attention as the 33 Runabout got at the show, these photos of hull #1 of her smaller sister, the 29 Runabout, got the most traction. Four feet shorter, $50,000 less expensive, but with helm and lower quarters layouts identical to her big sister, she really did seem to hit the pocket-yacht-sweet-spot the marketplace is demanding:

To add to our Newport Show experience, I’m thrilled to report that we sold the first ever 33 Runabout with a hardtop and twin outboards! And when I showed these plans there, it quickly became clear to me that outboard LIY’s will be a major part of our success over then five years:

Launch a flare for her complete (and innovative) details.

Meanwhile, your next opportunity to see the 33 Runabout starts tomorrow, at the Norwalk Boat Show. It is our only show where our slip location allows sea trials during the show. There is not alot of time, so call me ASAP to schedule your sea trial.

From there we are at the Annapolis Boat Show, from October 6th through the 9th. There has never been a Long Island Yacht on the Chesapeake, and I expect a grand welcome.

Alright, I’m out the door now to take our 33R to Norwalk. I hope to see you there and at Annapolis. Let me know if you need tickets. But here is my closing advice for you today:

Scroll back up and take a long and lustful return look at that 29 Runabout…

See ya…
